(Ps. 104)<\/em><\/p>\nThe term heaven denotes a strange symbiosis of parable and sky: it stands for bliss and delight, happiness, pleasure and cheerfulness, but also for the hazy atmosphere comprised of unstable ozone layers, consisting of a total of eight stratospheres and exospheres which one can travel through, but certainly not wander around sensuously. One becomes uncertain at the question whether, when considering the sentiments mentioned, it is about reaching heaven or finding them there.<\/p>\n
With the saying „As in Heaven, so on Earth“ it becomes even trickier if we want to be content with looking outside ourselves for the domain thus addressed. For we find the better part of what we call heaven neither in the symbolic nor the spatial, but rather in positive experiences such as clarity and purity, not to mention wisdom. The fact that heaven, as already indicated with its hybrid status, does not always enjoy the best reputation, can only slightly shake a serious seeker in her fundamentally empathetic and patient approach.<\/p>\n
This searching is precisely the theme of the exhibition: we look „up“, and from there down at our most limited existence. Up and down are in turn metaphors for mental and psychological attitudes. The most interesting thing is hereby always the unprejudiced, clear view of oneself: it is, as it were, just like a saint, „who wraps the light around himself like a cloth“, can see or know me, little earth worm.<\/p>\n
The exhibition should work as a whole, which is why we refrain from describing individual works. What they have in common is the understanding of appearances of the celestial as perspectives and the intention to grasp moments in which constellations of fundamentally physical experiences switch, so to speak, into a concretely perceptible reality. „The real world“, says Emmanuel Levinas, „is the world of consciousness“. And our perception is „only“ the objectifying act that makes everything appear. The works presented can therefore open up spaces for the imagination in which anything can be created that connects us to the heavens and its fantastic appearance.<\/p>\n
True consciousness without experience, that is, without lucid wakefulness, is impossible. Dull presence is like the sleep of reason. What we are concerned with here is wakefulness, perceiving the moment. Only in wakefulness can a „heavenly“ experience be free of all the worries, plans and memories that otherwise hold us captive. And everything that we want to or can bring about, we see first and foremost in a „different light“. Thus, the heavens can open to us, right now, here on earth. [Selah!]<\/p>\n
